OpenAI CEO Sam Altman stated that Sarah and Kevin’s experience will help the company grow, develop a strategy for the next phase, and provide resources for teams to succeed.

In May of this year, the AI company experienced the exit of its co-founder and chief scientist, Ilya Sutskever, shortly before Altman announced Jakub Pachocki’s promotion as the new Chief Scientist of OpenAI.

Friar has also served in leadership roles at Square, Goldman Sachs, McKinsey, and Salesforce, in addition to her position at Nextdoor. She is a member of the board of directors for Walmart and Consensys, as well as a Fellow at the Aspen Institute and Co-Chair of the Stanford Digital Economy Lab.

Weil’s experience involves starting the Libra cryptocurrency, overseeing product teams at Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. He is a term member of the Council on Foreign Relations and is on the boards of The Nature Conservancy and the Black Product Managers Network.
